Alexanders Grey Days: Ch.1

*ding~ ding~ dong~*

“Alright, thats it for today. Class over.”

Alexander straightened himself from the stand and closed his lesson book, “Read pages 55 through 89 in your Biology textbooks! If one student comes tomorrow not prepared you're all staying an hour after class! You hear me!” “Yes Sensei!” As the students exited the class room, Alexander headed to his desk, tossing his book onto the desk. Alexander sat himself down in his chair while two female students approached him.

“Sensei, we’re confused about the notes on page 33 in the textbook, can you explain them to us?”, said the taller one out of the two, staring at Alexander through her lashes with her notebook in hand. Alexander glanced up from his desk making eye contact with the other female student. She wore glasses that were slipping down the bridge of her nose, hands slightly shaking.

Alexander turned to look at the glasses girl’s friend, “Photosynthesis is carried out by many different organisms, ranging from plants to bacteria. The best known form of photosynthesis is the one carried out by higher plants and algae, as well as by cyanobacteria and their relatives, which are responsible for a major part of photosynthesis in oceans. All these organisms convert CO2  to organic material by reducing this gas to carbohydrates in a rather complex set of reactions. Electrons for this reduction reaction ultimately come from water, which is then converted to oxygen and protons. Energy for this process is provided by light, which is absorbed by pigments ,primarily chlorophylls and carotenoids. Chlorophylls absorb blue and red light and carotenoids absorb blue-green light, but green and yellow light are not effectively absorbed by photosynthetic pigments in plants; therefore, light of these colors is either reflected by leaves or passes through the leaves. This is why plants are green.” Alexander turned his eyes to the female with glasses.

“If you had done your assignment properly and not copy off of others, you would of know to copy down the graphs and side notes down in your notebook which help explain the topic more”, the female with glasses jumped from the fierce look in Alexander's eyes, “Next time I see copying or confusion that could have been easily avoided, I will deduct 20% from both of your work and your classmates, no matter who you copied off of! You're dismissed!” With a bang of Alexander’s fist of the desk the female student bowed and dashed out the classroom. After the students were gone Alexander ran his fingers through his black hair and let out a heavy sigh, “Damn students”. Alexander grabbed his bag from the back of the chair and headed to the door.

After speaking to the Headmaster about the day's classes, Alexander was finally home. He opened up the door to his apartment and was quickly greeted by Jack, a 10 year old black and brown Alopekis. Alexander rubbed him on his head and lazily threw himself on the sofa, stretching out his long legs and throwing his arm over his eyes. Today was like every other day so Jack did his usual routine of greeting his master at the door and then comfortably situating himself in his bed near the foot of the sofa. With a soft ‘hmph’ Jack put his head on his paws and stared at Alexander who still had his eyes covered. “Today was another hell of a day. Don’t ever become a teacher Jack, your life will become hell if you do.” Alexander said while removing his arm from his eyes and looking at Jack. As usual Jack let out another ‘hmph’ and continued staring at Alexander. Accepting that as his answer, Alexander flipped to the side and closed his eyes, to lazy to sleep on his bed, quickly falling asleep.

That night Alexander dreamt of a 3 year old Jack and an 18 year old Alexander playing fetch in a forest.
